The beginning of a full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine on February 24th 2022 became the beginning of a new reality for the Ukrainians – horrible, unpredictable, dark and cold. Thousands of hostile missiles and bombs were fired at infrastructural and energy facilities, in order to de-energize and freeze our country. Hundreds of thousands of residential houses, schools, hospitals were destroyed completely or partially.
With the onset of the cold, the existing energy supply challenges became even more highlighted: due to regular massive missile strikes and drone attacks, the country sank into long blackouts; and regular power outages, lack of mobile connection and the Internet became a routine.
Thanks to the cooperation with the charitable organization “Electriciens sans frontières”, Charitable Foundation “Fortechnyi” (Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine) initiated and is currently realizing the project “Heat Is Where You Are”. Within the framework of the project, the volunteers of the foundation delivered more than 2,500 items of different equipment (electric heaters, lamps, gas stoves, generators and thermal plants) to the most war-affected communities of Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
The foundation team visited 83 unloading locations, covered tens of thousands kilometres of roads, worked in the close proximity from the borderline and the war zone. Supported by the French partners, the Foundation managed to present the hospitals, schools, boarding schools, invincibility points and other critical infrastructure facilities with long-hoped-for light and heat.
The partnership between CF “Fortechnyi” and “Electriciens sans frontières” is the evidence that the joint efforts of the like-minded people, whose absolute priority is the defence of people’s lives, make it possible to achieve significant results. Together we helped about 340000 common Ukrainians to survive the cold and improved the conditions of their everyday life (in Sumy region – 33000 people, in Chernihiv region – 145000, in Kharkiv region - 162000), and the quality equipment, delivered to the healthcare and educational institutions and to the communities, will be used further on.
